Current Projects:

The Collective Keepers Project is an initiative by LJSP to archive and document activist and mutual aid movements in Little Jamaica, culminating in an exhibition exploring the tenets of “Artivism”, which as defined by Eva Aladro-Vico and colleagues, is “a hybrid form of art and activism as a means towards change and social transformation.”
With a focus on First Nations/Indigenous history, Caribbean movements, and Little Jamaica past and present, this project will frame future stewardship programs, particularly projects in agroecology and food sovereignty. It will also serve as an intergenerational opportunity, bringing together elders and youth archivists in a program that blends legacies and futures.
Keep an eye on this page for future dates for Collective Keepers!
Past Events:

LJSP was thrilled to welcome Capoeira Camará for an open roda at our August 21st People’s Market in Celebration of Black August!
Capoeira is an art form that emerged through resistance mounted by East & West Africans and native Brasilians in the face of European colonialism. Today, Capoeira remains a pivotal form of music inspired storytelling, self-defense, and decolonial movement.
